While we work through this situation and follow guidelines put out by the NZ government the way we operate and run our classes will be a little different.
We have updated our Timetable for Level 2, this means some classes may be gone and others have had time changes as we have spaced them out - this is to allow movement of members between sessions. We have also capped class numbers at 10 so we can have as much space as possible between members during workouts.
We have been doing a deep clean of all our equipment and facilities, and when we move into level 2 we will continue to ensure all equipment is cleaned as it should be after each session.
If you have any questions please get in touch
We hope to see you all soon in level 2!
Nga mihi - the CFB team
We offer a unique, functional fitness, strength and conditioning system called CrossFit. CrossFit exists for anyone, any age, any gender and especially any fitness level. Our workouts are functional, varied and infinitely scalable depending on your ability.
Here at CFB our kaupapa is that everyone and anyone can get fit in a supportive, encouraging environment where we constantly boost each other’s morale and focus on our hauora (holistic well-being). Come along to CFB and we will increase your abilities in the 10 components of fitness; Cardiovascular Endurance, Strength, Stamina, Agility, Flexibility, Balance, Power, Speed, Coordination and Accuracy as well as boosting your morale!
The environment at CFB is different to most commercial gyms – first off we’re more of a whānau and consider ourselves lucky to be able to train with and alongside the awesome members of our Community! Secondly we don’t have any machines! Our focus is on training the body to move the way it is meant to, you’ll find pull-up bars, barbells and plates, dumbbells, kettle bells, medicine balls, gymnastic rings, boxing gear and many more CrossFit toys!
At CFB routine is the enemy. Head coach Kim Norriss brought Crossfit to Blenheim way back in 2013, with years of experience in the game she does all our programming and sets workouts that will take you through constantly varied, functional training sessions. These sessions force the body to adapt, and always take you one-step closer to your goal. We use chalk, we sweat … a lot, we shout and most importantly we know everyone by their first name and know what works for them.
CrossFit is one of the largest growing Strength and Conditioning programmes in the world! The CrossFit programme closely mimics day-to-day activities – It’s about developing functional strength. It’s about blurring the lines between cardio and strength – because life makes no distinction.
Here at CFB our aim is to make CrossFit accessible to all and inclusive of all - so we keep our prices as low as possible and have a variety of membership options to suit people from all walks of life. If you think ‘I’m not fit enough’ or ‘it’s not for me’ then you’re wrong my friend! Give it a go and see for yourself … its fun and addictive!!
Why is the CrossFit movement growing so rapidly worldwide? Its scalable to any fitness level, its quick, its functional, and it delivers amazing results. End of Story!
See you at the gym!
Below are some of our frequently asked questions but if you have a question we have not covered here please contact us.
We provide personalized coaching during every workout, for every exercise. We not only teach you proper movement, form and technique, we also help you to find a level of intensity within yourself that you may not even realise existed. The sense of camaraderie and community that we develop in our group classes is something you won’t find at a commercial Gym, or through training alone.
They are designed to be hard but not impossible. CrossFit workouts are infinitely scale-able. Each workout is custom tailored to your level – but everyone runs through it together, as a group. We’ll help you balance good form, safety and intensity to get the most from your CrossFit workouts. In fact we’ll let you in on a secret, everyone is a little nervous by a WOD (Work Out of the Day) at first: it’s always going to be hard, if it was easy you wouldn’t get the results you want and you’d eventually get bored!
We recommend anyone new to CrossFit to complete at least 6 Bootcamp sessions or a private intro session before graduating to the Open sessions. CrossFit is very different to anything you will have done before and for that reason it is very strict on standards. If the standard is correct there is no issue of safety. You will quickly learn the difference between a movement done wrong and one done right. We will introduce and breakdown the 9 fundamental movements as defined by CrossFit and gradually increase the intensity of the workouts.
Yes. CrossFit conditioning is all body weight and suitable for anyone over 10 years old. See the timetable for conditioning session times!
NO! We believe that anyone has a right to improve their fitness regardless of their current fitness level. Remember CrossFit is scalable for any person of any fitness level.
WOW this is a new one… Actually it’s not! You will get stronger and leaner. Let us get you fit – we promise, your body composition will fall into line! For specific body composition goals (body fat percentage, gaining muscle etc), book in a consultation with Kim to discuss your nutrition!
Sorry to have to break this to you, but no and you’ll also notice we don’t have mirrors either. CrossFit is about functional movements natural to your body. Machines force your body into an unnatural movement pattern and artificially isolate muscles, which applies unacceptable levels of force to the joints. Think about it, if you have to carry a couch up three flights of stairs that machine in the gym isn’t going to help you!
Hopefully you’re starting to see a trend with CrossFit. We’re not like most gyms and therefore we pride ourselves in not operating like one. There are no contracts, just flexible memberships to suit your needs.
Anything that’s comfortable! Boardies, Shorts, 3-quarter length pants, joggers, vest tops, t.shirts, hoodies. Layers are a good option. When you’re working out you can take them off, when you’re cooling down you can put them back on.
We have a toilet/changing area, kitchen with tea and coffee facilities and a tamariki zone upstairs where your tamariki can play while you train. We also have a separate office/reception area for private consultations.
